Existing Carrier Appointments

Anthem – Appointment Instructions

This process is required to add state appointments for Anthem and their affiliates.
PLEASE NOTE that an agent is required to be certified AND hold an active appointment in the state before you can save or discuss Anthem plan details in that state. If this requirement is not met, you will see the following error message in SelectCare:

If you are completing this for the first time or if you see the above message, please follow the below instructions. This is a 2 part process of requesting the appointment and Completing the Appointment:

Part 1: Request the Appointment

  1. To request your appointment, please start by logging a ticket through the integrated chat service at the top of the SelectCare window.

  2. If you are having trouble accessing the integrated chat, please use the following link to access the page: https://sites.google.com/selectquote.com/sq-application-support/home?authuser=0

  3. Click the send us a message button in the chat window.

  4. Select the “Licensing and Appointment Support” option when prompted.

  5. Enter your SelectQuote Email address if prompted to do so, then hit the blue arrow to the right.

  6. Select the “Anthem Appointment Issues/Request” option when given.

  7. Select the option that says “Create ticket”.

  8. Enter in all of the requested information.

  9. Click “Create Ticket” at the bottom once all information has been entered.

  10. You will then receive a notification that the ticket has been submitted. Please allow 1-3 business days to receive an appointment email from Anthem, then follow the below instructions to complete your appointment.



Part 2: Complete the Appointment

  1. You will receive an email from Software.Support@Anthem.com with the subject line “Action Required: Your agency has asked us to appoint you.”

  2. Click on the link within the email.

  3. Enter your username and email for the producer toolbox. If you do not remember either, use the “Forgot Username?” and “Forgot Password?” links to regain access.

  4. After logging into the Producer Toolbox, confirm your information is still correct under Basic Info.

    1. Mailing and physical address should pre-populate with SelectQuote’s address. If it does not, please enter in the information as it appears below

      1. Address Line 1: 6800 W 115TH ST

      2. City: Overland Park

      3. State: Kansas

      4. Zip Code: 66211

    2. Residence Address should be your personal address.

  5. Click continue to appointments after all address information is input.

  6. Click on the checkboxes in the states column for any state in which you’d like to become appointed. If all states are already pre-selected for you, that is okay.

    1. Some states may appear twice in the state selection column. Please select both states so that you can become appointed with each entity available within the respective states.

    2. After selecting the state, click the drop down under “Line of Business” and select “Senior”.

    3. If you are applying for Medicare appointments, and you do not seeSenior” as an option in the Line of Business dropdown menu, that means your Medicare appointment in that state is already in progress. De-select the state so that you can proceed with the application.

  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Continue to questions”.

  8. Business Survey questions will default to “No”. Please reach each question carefully and change any answers as needed.

    1. For any questions you may answer “Yes” too, write an explanation in the appropriate field and upload your relevant documentation.

  9. After answering all questions, click continue to forms at the bottom of the page.

  10. Click on the “Sign Documents” box under general documents to skip down the page. Click the box to accept and sign documentation.

  11. After signing documents, click “Continue to Payment”.

  12. Anthem has waived appointment fees for SelectQuote agents, so your payment tab should show that fees have been waived. If you are being prompted to pay fees, please start over at step 6.

  13. Once you have confirmed there are no fees, click submit to finish submitting the application.

  14. After Submitting, you will receive a “Payment Success” notification.

    1. Please retain a copy of the confirmation screen for your records, as this notification indicated that your application has been submitted.

  15. Once submitted, it can take Anthem 2-5 days to review your application.

  16. You can track the progress of your application via the Appointments dashboard. Below are possible statuses and definitions of each status.

Anthem Status Definition

Broker Started, Not Yet Submitted - Broker Action

Required

Appointment has not been submitted. Agent needs to complete and submit the application.

Broker Submitted - Pending

Internal Review

Appointment was submitted and is currently under

review.

Appointment

Approved

Application was approved by Anthem.

Appointment

Declined

Application was denied by Anthem. This can be due to one of the following: • Background check issues

• Business survey question issues • Release letter needed

17. Upon approval, you will receive an email from

anthem.brokers@anthem.com with your approved state(s), encrypted ID and effective date.
