Maintaining your Carrier Appointment

Presenting a Plan

  • In order to present a plan to a client, an agent must meet the carrier’s compliance standards:

    1. Hold an active Health license in the client’s state of residence.

    2. Pass the carrier’s certification for the plan year discussed.

    3. Hold an active writing number under SelectQuote’s hierarchy.

  • Please note, the above criteria pertains to all carriers with the exception of Anthem.

    1. In order to sell Anthem plans, a presenting agent must also hold an active state appointment in the client’s state of residence.

Enrolling a Client in a Plan

  • In order to enroll a client in a plan, an agent must meet the following:

    • Hold an active Health license in the client’s state of residence.

    • Pass the carrier’s certification for the plan year discussed.

    • Hold an active writing number under SelectQuote’s hierarchy.

    • Hold an active state appointment in the client’s state of residence


How do I contact the carriers?

  • We always suggest bringing your certification issues and questions to us before reaching out the carrier. However, there will be times that you are instructed to reach out to the carrier, generally for release information, changing an email address or password on file, and technological issues with their site while completing certs.
